Karen King-Smith has had a really varied life across these United States. Originally from the north, Karen was raised in Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia. She and her family spent summers at Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Normandy Beach, New Jersey. Later, she traveled west to attend the University of Washington in Seattle and graduated with a B.A. in Communications and Advertising.

For 30 plus years she enjoyed a successful career in marketing, from working for a major magazine, to government contracts, to a sales career as a manufacturer's rep. 

Having moved to Asheville in 1985, she almost qualifies as a "southerner" now! She and her husband, an Asheville attorney, have three children. Karen spent many years as a United States Pony Club volunteer and Center Stage Performing Company mom.

She is a long time member of  ABWA (American Business Women's Association) - has held Executive Board positions over the years. In 2010 and 2005, she was elected "Woman of the Year".  She is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Asheville and serves on the Hospitality Committee.  Karen is also a 10th Mountain Division Descendant and Chi Omega Alumnae.

Karen has a passion about helping newcomers to the area with her knowledge of communities, available civic activities, schools and cultural events. She loves the experience of assisting buyers and sellers in making "local" moves since she feels so blessed to have called this area home for her and her family for so many years.
