~Putting Appalachian Values to Work for You~

Growing up in Asheville, I had the honor of knowing two of my great-grandmothers. These two Appalachian women, while very different in their demeanor, shared characteristics and values that they generously passed down generation after generation. Both had outlived their husbands, lived independently, were self-sufficient growing their own food, stoking their wood stoves for heat and cooking, and sewing quilts for cover and Christmas presents. They showed me that life is a balance of taking care of yourself and your family but also being a part of your community, a balance of hard, honest work and respect for your fellow human beings, a balance of listening and then taking action to help people accomplish their goals.

Using these lessons, I do my work by their example. I embrace my Appalachian heritage of hard work and respect for the people I work with and for. I look at a situation and then look for solutions to problems or obstacles that will be satisfactory to everyone involved.

After receiving a MS degree in Business from Mars Hill College, I furthered my education by receiving a MAEd degree from Western Carolina University. For over twenty years I worked in Asheville as a Social Worker, working with non-profit organizations  as a manager and counselor. During that time I also worked as a Lieutenant with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department heading up the Special Investigations Unit. My work was, needless to say, interesting and very rewarding.

In the year 2000, I made a decision to retire from non-profit management and pursue a field of work that had interested me throughout my life. That is when I studied real estate sales and became a licensed agent. Feng Shui and home staging are also part of my interest and studies. My career in residential real estate sales, too, has been interesting and rewarding. My values and career experience have served me, and I believe my clients, well. Hard work and respect are at the core of how I do my business.

Today, my focus is on new condominium sales, while maintaining a strong network with fellow agents to assist with my residential resale business. Please call me so that we can discuss your real estate needs and goals.   Let’s see how we can put my Appalachian values to work for you.
